OUR BUSINESS

OUR BUSINESS

Our business was founded in 1947 by Fred Helker. After graduating from watchmakers college in Elgin, IL in 1945, he taught watchmaking briefly before going into business in his hometown of Platteville. The business has operated in 4 different locations. In 1979 his daughter, Kay Helker assumed operation of the business until March 2011. Kay then sold the family business to Chris and Sarah Justmann of Dubuque, IA. Chris comes to Helker Jewelry with 19 years of experience in the jewelry industry. Chris is also a Goldsmith that oversees all jewelry repairs on the premises.

At Helker Jewelry we know that each gift, engagement ring or piece of jewelry is chosen with emotion and intent. The collections of jewelry, timepieces and giftware we offer in our store are carefully selected with that in mind. We know these purchases will be more than just objects, they will forever be symbols of love, worth and unforgettable moments. Allow our staff to help you make the right emotional commitment and commemorate special occasions.
